Compromise Can Be Deadly

At the time I am writing this study, I am at an international airport listening to the news on a television monitor. All of a sudden our president of the USA says, "In order for American to move forward, we must all be willing to compromise areas of our lives that we hold too tightly. How can we come to agreements on issues like abortion, spending, international affairs, same sex marriages, and our military...unless someone gives up their extreme views and strangle hold on our country. Please ask yourself. Are you or your organization the one that is keeping our country from being unified and moving forward in making the next few years a great time of productivity?" Please know, before I get started, that compromise in a relationship is valuable. It is impossible to have a good relationship with another person unless you are willing to reach a compromise.

However, in the area of warfare, compromise is deadly! In a relationship between two people, they at least share similar goals but may disagree on how to reach them. In warfare, goals and attitudes are extremely different and rarely settle anything. What was settled when the US reached a compromise in the Vietnam War? It was to stop fighting. For Christians, compromise is also deadly. Why? Satan loves for you to compromise so he can gain inroads into your life. Once Satan has an inroad into an area of compromise, he looks for other areas you are willing to surrender. Never give a place in your life to the devil. Ephesians 4:27

Please know, that when you try to compromise with the devil and sin...you always lose out. Sin will consume you to the end. Look at Joshua 9:1-15. When Joshua and the Israelites reached a compromise with the Gibeonites, we are told that the Canaanites were gathering together for the purpose of war, but the inhabitants of Gibeon decided to work deceitfully for their survival. They deceived Joshua and the children of Israel into accepting them, and yet in the end, their deceitfulness was exposed. Remember, your sins will find you out. No person can expect to play games with God and refuse to change, and not loose out in the end. Even Joshua was deceived and did not remember to ask about the Gibeonite's relationship with God and their beliefs.

Remember, when you are tempted to compromise with the enemy, be aware of the enemy's hostility. We are not to have a relationship with the devil or with the sin that entangles him. Remember: 1 Thessalonians 5:22 It says to abstain from all appearance of evil. In the story of Joshua, they had entered the Promised Land and were standing on the land that God Himself had promised them. However, even though they had entered into it, there were still enemies that were all around them. Remember: Satan uses his own! All the kings in the cities of Canaan banded together against God's people. The people were scared, desperate, and had no hope. They had heard what God had done at Jericho. They knew they were dealing with a powerful foe. They knew they could not stand against the Israelites, one by one. They were scared so they joined forces. They were desperate for they knew that their time was short.

Did you know that when you are with God and stand against the enemy, the enemy is scared? He is desperate, and since there is nothing in the heart of Satan that bears repentance, all he knows to do is to throw a desperate attempt against the people of God. Jericho had signaled that Canaan was defeated, so Calvary has signaled to the devil that he too is defeated. Colossians 2:14

When the enemy realizes that he is defeated, he does one of two things, he surrenders, or he throws everything he has into the battle. The devil is throwing everything he has into the battle. He is gathering every demon and every principality. They are throwing everything they have into the battle for your soul. He is a powerful foe, and without Christ, you can not stand against him. Ephesians 6:11

"Heavenly Father, I stand in the power of the name of Jesus and the faith I have in Your Son. I know He has already defeated Satan and that is why the deceptive spirit is so eager to get any hold on my life. I refuse to give in and will stand on Your promise that You will never leave me or forsake me. I am Yours and I will not give in to his schemes and false desires to give me anything of eternal worth. I put on Your whole armor and know what I do for You will produce a crown that will last forever. Lord God, I choose You and know I can stand against the evil schemes of the devil. I pray these things in the name of Jesus! Amen." YES or NO
